Have you ever said ‘I’d love to write a book’? Have you heard someone say ‘I wish someone would write my family member’s story. They’ve led such an interesting life. It’s going to be wasted when they leave?’
Not everyone feels comfortable writing, though you can collaborate with a ghostwriting professional to express your voice.
TESTIMONIAL FROM THE PINCINI FAMILY ~ Colourful Life of a Workaholic
‘Leanda wrote a single ‘snapshot’ in relation to my father Joe Pincini. We were so impressed with Leanda’s work we contracted her to write 11 more. Leanda had the amazing ability to engage with Dad and quickly gained his trust. This was important to enable him to share more personal aspects of his life. While Dad is quite verbose, Leanda was still able to succinctly capture his stories and place them into a cohesive simple and often entertaining manner, adopting his authentic voice and sense of fun. We have learned new tales from the stories that Leanda has written. Leanda also goes the extra mile to do research on topics and historical events/sites that Dad has talked about. We’d been talking about it for years and now Dad’s story is a reality.’
SNAPSHOTS OF LIFE
Memories and experiences shape a person’s life. By sharing our stories we learn more about ourselves and realise the integral part we have played in this lifetime, as a son/daughter, sibling, father/son, or grandparent.
Reflection upon the past also creates the space for healing. This process highlights beliefs, values and accomplishments, which can aid in raising self-esteem.
Your snapshot may be a funny story, a celebration, an accomplishment, a moment in time, a travel experience or your journey with a loved one—the occasions are endless.
By having your loved one’s stories written you will be honouring their life and creating a wonderful gift for future generations to admire and enjoy.
The first step involves meeting you and discovering what you would like to see take place. With honour, respect and integrity I will then conduct a series of casual interviews with your loved one. These 1:1 interviews can also be viewed as respite, or seen as a visit from a friend. These meetings will be recorded and can be the final product, or then can be transcribed, research can be carried out, sessions edited, photos scanned and design pages prepared ready for printing and eBook publication.
It is my intent to be sensitive and caring to your loved one’s feelings and shared memories. All information shared will be treated as private and confidential and every care will be taken to preserve photographs and memorabilia when on loan for scanning.
Please note: you don’t have to be elderly to share your story. You may have a terminal illness, or a secret that you would like to be shared later. Whatever your situation me be, I can accommodate your requirements.
